DEFINITION

LIVING ROOM is a room in a home used, especially by a family, for leisure activities, entertaining guests etc.



SYNONYMS

There are some synonyms of living room : drawing room, sitting room, best room, fore room, front room, parlor,  etc. 

Words related living room : best room, common room, pariour. salon, withdrawing room  


TYPES OF LIVING ROOM

1. Traditional living room. It often uses architectural embellishments in its design. While line, color, space, texture, and shape are among the main elements that should be considered.

2. Contemporary  Contemporary is ever-changing and flexible, IT can be a combination of all types of traditional, modern or rustic design.

3. West coast contemporary. It include some elements :
 - large windows,
 - exposed heavy timber structure
 - grant entrances
 - wood furnishes
 - designs corresponding to the site 
 - stone fireplace
4. Modern. It includes some elements that separates modern from other design :
 - clean straight lines
 - over sized tiles with rectified edges
 - sanded wood floors that minimize the grain
 - wall bookcases and shelves pullouts
 - open floor plans with few walls/
 - lack of molding trimming windows, doors and walls.
 - uses of metal
 - bold accent color
 - clutter free, no vases, no excess throw pillows and no rugs
